The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has set up a number of programs to incentivize Oregonians to drive an electric vehicle – be it new or pre-owned. Federal tax credits, as a part of the Zero Emission Vehicle Program, allow manufacturers to award tax credits of $7,500 until 200,000 vehicles are registered. Here are the details of some of the Oregon EV tax credits.
Oregon residents, businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies are eligible for the program. There’s no income requirement and new battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles with a base MSRP under $50,000 as well as electric motorcycles can fit under this category. The possible offer amounts include $750 for zero-emission motorcycles, $1,500 for batteries under 10 kWh, and $2,500 for batteries of 10 kWh or more.
Oregon residents and nonprofits that are low- to moderate-income service providers are eligible for this program. This program is for purchases or leases done before Jan 1, 2022. The income requirements vary by where you live around Beaverton and Vancouver and are based on household size. Purchases on or after Jan 1, 2022, with an income requirement, are up to 400% of the federal poverty guideline and are based upon the applicant’s household size. You can use the state of Oregon eligibility calculator to determine your eligibility. For this program, the offer amount is $2,500 for vehicles purchased or leased prior to Jan. 1, 2022, and $5,000 if purchased on or after the aforementioned date.
The standard Charge Ahead Credit is $4,000 for a battery under 10 kWh and $5,000 for a battery of 10 kWh or more, and similar requirements to the previously mentioned Charge Ahead Credit.
